Background

Po-tai Cheng received the B.S. degree from National Chiao Tung
University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1990 and the Ph.D. degree from the
University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, WI, USA, in 1999. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan.

His research interests include  high-power converters and applications, and power electronics technologies for smart grid.

He received IAS Transactions Prize Paper Award in 2009 and IAS Industrial
Power Converter Committee paper award in 2012 and 2014.
He is the Chair of the Industrial Power Conversion System Department (IPCSD), IEEE-IAS, 2016-2017. He is appointed a Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE Power Electronics Society, 2014-2017. Currently he serves as an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics.
